GS Moms believes that every couple deserves the opportunity to explore ways to grow their family that is right for them including the option of gestational surrogacy and other fertility options available specifically to transgender people and non-binary couples. GS Moms is committed to assisting all couples and is dedicated to the LGBTQAI community – we’re eager to advocate for you and your family as we navigate the family planning options available together.

What are some fertility options available to Transgender and non-binary couples?

Expanding your family can be achieved in a variety of ways and GS Moms can provide a number of fertility options specifically for transgender and non-binary couples. Our family planning strategy focuses on the creation of an embryo that is able to be transferred to a person capable of carrying a pregnancy.  It is important that you start your journey with a qualified mental health specialist that specializes in third party reproduction so you can decide what will be the most comfortable path to parenthood for you. Each person is different, and their “ideal” journey may look different as well.

Sperm/Egg/Embryo Cryogenic Preservation – Preserving the option of having biological offspring is an overarching goal for GS Moms for the Transgender/Non-binary community. When experiencing the transitioning process, oftentimes the preservation of reproductive materials becomes an afterthought. At GS Moms, we strive to educate regarding additional options available to transgender and non-binary couples including the preservation of reproductive cells including sperm, eggs and embryos for pregnancies at a later date. Genetic materials of this type can be cryogenically frozen for an indefinite period of time. Prior to starting hormone therapy plans regarding children should be discussed so that you can bypass the negative aspects of coming off of your hormone therapy regime in order to go through the process of retrieving your gametes. Even if you currently feel that you never want to have children, it is inexpensive to preserve your biological contribution until a later date just in case you change your mind. It is quite common to complete your transition and later decide that you want to become a parent. Preserving your biological contribution to that child preserves your option to have a biological child when you are ready.

Egg Donor Matching Services – GS Moms maintains an extensive egg-donor database that allows for a wide-range of parameters when selecting an egg donor.  If it is part of your fertility journey, and when you decide to choose GS Moms as your partner, you will be given access to search egg donors from a variety of races, ethnicities and backgrounds.

Gestational Surrogacy – In some cases, there is a need for a Gestational Surrogate. For this process, once an embryo is created, it is transferred to a Gestational Surrogate who carries the pregnancy for the couple. Gestational Surrogacy means that the embryo has no genetic connection to the surrogate – the offspring remains the genetic child of the creators of the embryo. If you do not contribute biologically to the embryo there are many states that still consider the baby your property and your names will still go on the original birth certificate.
